Groovin’ On The Green @ The Shops At Atlas Park
George, Paul Beaudry and I are having a blast playing at this outdoor concert series in Queens. It was pretty windy the first night, Sept. 3, but tonight wasn’t so bad. We played a mix of jazz, bossa nova, instrumentals and vocals. Some kids had fun dancing on the grass, and the general manager of the place came over to say that his 14-yr-old son is a serious jazz trumpet player. I said, bring him by next time and we’ll let him sit in! When is next time? Well, next Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 7-9. (We’ll also be there on Sept. 24 sans George… he’s playing at Smalls. My old friend Eric Halvorson will be sitting in for him on drums.)
